Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) - Clean Cooking 2022

Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) Programme, India in partnership with Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India and Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) through its In Country Programme Partner in India – Finovista is organizing Entrepreneurship Development Programme – Clean Cooking. Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) Programme through its In-country Partner in India – Finovista organized Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) in Clean Cooking.

The programme worked with Clean Cooking Stakeholders and Indian device manufacturers to support innovation through investigations of Indian cooking and Modern Electric Cooking device requirements, pilots, sharing learnings from its research and connecting Indian partners with programme countries around the world. With cutting edge device solutions, world-class manufacturing infrastructure, technological advances and alignment to India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India coupled with the recently launched nationwide Go Electric campaign can lead to positioning India as a global hub for Clean Cooking Device Manufacturing. This is programme is supported by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India and Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL).

India is home to multiple large-scale cooking device manufacturers and brands with already established sales, distribution and service Infrastructure, but the sector lacks the presence of small and medium enterprises and especially start-ups in this domain. As part of its strategy to nurture innovation and scale up the capacity of Indian device manufacturers, MECS Programme in India aims to run a dedicated Entrepreneurship Development Programme for clean cooking to support Startup/Spinoff/Innovator/Entrepreneur through funding, capacity building and other interventions, to glide over the current pandemic situation and develop sustainable business models and solutions for commercially neglected Clean Cooking sector.

Objective

  • India’s first Modern Energy based clean cooking Entrepreneurship Development Programme to identify, nurture, fund and scale-up ideas into sustainable and scalable business solutions.

Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) Programme, is a five-year initiative funded by UK Aid of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and led by Loughborough University and the World Bank’s Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP). The MECS Programme aims to accelerate the global transition from traditional biomass-based cooking to modern-energy cooking solutions

A Holistic approach towards Modern Energy Cooking Solutions in the areas of:

– Electric Cooking

– SOLAR PV Cooking

Programme Opportunity and Benefits

The current pandemic situation has made some of the businesses standstill or low operation, Finovista proposes to organize a 3-months long Entrepreneurship Development programme for Entrepreneurs / Innovators, dedicated to the clean cooking sector. The programme would train and mentor, start-ups/entrepreneurs in this domain to work on sustainable business models which help them attain sustainable business growth and revenue streams. Under the programme, we will be selecting 10-12 entrepreneurs and training & mentoring them for 3 months, helping them to create a business plan for their company and providing a Cash Grant of GBP 2,500 each to the top three Entrepreneurs. The training and mentoring would be delivered in a virtual format and would follow a mix of practical and interactive activities from entrepreneurship experts. The Programme aims for providing relevant mentoring sessions in areas of product development, technology development, go-to-market strategies, fundraising, relevant government schemes, compliance and taxation awareness etc. by top mentors from the relevant fields from India and around the World. The programme would have multiple capability-building interventions and this would include:
