DRDO hands over 7 technologies developed under tech development fund to armed forces
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has officially transferred seven indigenous technologies to the Indian Armed Forces under the Technology Development Fund (TDF) scheme, a flagship initiative aimed at empowering Indian MSMEs and startups to deliver cutting-edge defence innovation.
These technologies span critical operational domains including:
-
AI-enabled surveillance systems
-
Advanced communication and electronic systems
-
Robotics and unmanned solutions
-
High-performance protection and materials tech
-
Weapon system upgrades and subsystems
-
Energy-efficient battlefield power solutions
-
Training, testing, and simulation technologies
The handover reinforces the government’s push for Atmanirbhar Bharat in defence, strengthening self-reliance while expanding India’s indigenous R&D and manufacturing base. DRDO highlighted that over 70% of TDF-supported projects are driven by startups and emerging innovators, signaling India’s growing capacity to develop mission-critical solutions domestically.
The initiative also ensures faster technology adoption by the armed forces, reducing dependency on imports and enabling rapid modernization across the three services.
