It also focused on supporting India’s transition toward cleaner energy consumption by highlighting the benefits of electric and renewable energy-based cooking solutions. Additionally, the event sought to identify practical strategies and scalable pathways for expanding the adoption of electric cooking technologies nationwide, contributing to improved energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and enhanced quality of life for consumers.

The announcement of a large-scale deployment of over 20,000 electric pressure cookers and induction cooktops.

A joint venture of NTPC Limited, Power Finance Corporation, Rural Electrification Corporation and POWERGRID, Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) was set up under Ministry of Power to facilitate implementation of energy efficiency projects. EESL is a Super Energy Service Company (ESCO) that seeks to unlock energy efficiency market in India, estimated at Rs. 74,000 crore that can potentially result in energy savings of up to 20 per cent of current consumption, by way of innovative business and implementation models. The Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) is UK Aid (FCDO) funded research programme, led by Loughborough University and the World Bank’s ESMAP programme. The programme aims to accelerate a transition from biomass to genuinely clean cooking. In India, the programme started at the end of 2019, in partnership with their In-country partner Finovista, a Programme Management and Consulting firm engaged based in New Delhi.
