Training for 15 CCC Didis on Repair & Maintenance of eCooking Devices

JEEViKA (Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society) / J-WiRES (JEEViKA Women Initiative Renewable Energy and Solutions) and Finovista organized a one-day non-residential training programme on Repairing and Maintenance of eCooking Appliances on 14th October 2025 at the RuTAGe Smart Village Centre, J-WiRES Office, Dobhi, Gaya, Bihar. The technical training was conducted by an experienced technician from Smithcucina Company, a partner organisation specializing in induction and energy-efficient appliances. The session included both theoretical instruction and practical demonstrations, ensuring that participants gained comprehensive knowledge of induction system functionality and repair mechanisms.

The programme commenced by the Director of J-WiRES, along with officials from NABARD and IIM Bodh Gaya. This marked the formal inauguration of the event.

In his welcome address, the Director of J-WiRES highlighted the organization’s ongoing commitment to promoting clean energy solutions, fostering entrepreneurship among rural women and providing them with technical skill-building opportunities. She further emphasized how repair and maintenance skills are essential to ensuring the long-term sustainability of distributed energy appliances.

The representatives from NABARD appreciated the J-WiRES initiative and acknowledged the importance of capacity-building programmes that empower women Self-Help Group (SHG) members. They stressed that such technical trainings are crucial in today’s context, where electric cooking is becoming central to India’s clean energy transition and efforts to reduce dependence on conventional fuels.

A total of 15 Clean Cooking Champions (CCC) Didis participated in the training, along with local J-WiRES team members. The participants actively engaged in the sessions, performing live repair demonstrations under expert supervision. Following this training, the trained CCC Didis are now capable of carrying out maintenance and repairs of faulty or damaged induction devices on their own. This development strengthens the last-mile service delivery model, ensuring timely and efficient resolution of technical issues. Finovista has supported Micro-Entrepreneurs / Street Food Vendors in four districts in Bihar (Gaya, Nalanda, Patna and Aurangabad), as any issue arising from the field can now be addressed locally.

The RSVC model is unique as it integrates training, entrepreneurship, and technical service delivery under one roof. By enabling rural women to become technicians and entrepreneurs in the clean cooking sector, the initiative not only fosters energy transition but also promotes women-led rural enterprises.
