eCooking Workshop Bihar | Finovista & J-WiRES 2025
On 2nd May 2025, Finovista in partnership with J-WiRES & BREDA & supported by the Shell Foundation, held an inaugural workshop in Bodhgaya, Bihar to explore the potential of eCooking for micro-entrepreneurs & street food vendors. The workshop engaged over 60 local Micro Entrepreneurs & Street Food Vendors & 15 delegates highlighting the benefits of eCooking in improving livelihoods.
The workshop brought together key experts from JEEViKA, BREDA, TTK Prestige, Smith Innovative, Finovista & J-WiRES to promote clean, energy-efficient cooking technologies for street food vendors & micro-entrepreneurs. Workshop focused on empowering street food vendors & promoting innovation in clean cooking technologies. Speakers highlighted successful collaborations to advance energy-efficient solutions like electric cooking systems, which significantly reduce cooking costs & support a sustainable shift from LPG. Initiative also includes a decentralized servicing model managed by women, reinforcing gender empowerment mission under schemes like Saubhagya, aimed at solarizing public institutions & promoting energy self-sufficiency in rural areas. The focus is on reducing indoor pollution, replacing coal, firewood & encouraging community-level adoption of solar technologies in rural network. The transition to cleanenergy & the need to adopt market-ready clean cooking solutions.
Manufacturer showcased modern, energy-efficient appliances like induction cooktops & EPCs, advocating for costeffective, environmentally conscious technologies.
The workshop led by Finovista’s trainer featured live eCooking demonstrations for micro-entrepreneurs & street food vendors focusing on the benefits of eCooking in reducing fuel costs, safety risks & health concerns. Participants learned how induction cooktops & EPCs improve efficiency cooking quality & energy use. Vendors practiced cooking pakoras, dal & rice using 1600W/2000W induction cooktops & 6L EPCs, learning deep frying, pressure cooking & energy-saving techniques. The session emphasized temperature control, safe appliance use & benefits like cost savings reduced air pollution & environmental sustainability. In partnership with J-WiRES, Finovista distributed induction cooktops to micro-entrepreneurs & street vendors in Bihar, promoting energy-efficient, healthy cooking.
Ahead of the main workshop on 30th April 2025, we conducted an eCooking Training of Trainers(ToT) was conducted at the J-WiRES Campus in Dobhi, Gaya, Bihar. Session brought together Clean Cooking Champions (DIDIs) & staff members, guided by Board Directors. Participants took part in live cooking demonstrations using induction cooktops & EPCs, focusing on energy efficiency, temperature control & safe appliance use.
The training aimed to build the capacity of DIDIs as community-level trainers enabling them to promote clean energy adoption, support micro-entrepreneurs & street vendors & lead sustainable, health-focused cooking transitions across rural areas.
