Government of India Implements Stringent Quality Control Standards for Cookware, Utensils, and Domestic Gas Stoves in Recent Notification
Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) Govt of India, has implemented quality control directive – Domestic Gas Stoves for Piped Natural Gas (Quality Control) Order 2023.
This directive is set to go into effect six months after its official Gazette publication. However, for small businesses as defined by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act of 2006, the effective date will be extended to nine months, and for micro-enterprises, it will be extended to twelve months from the date of publication.
According to this order, all gas stoves intended for use with Piped Natural Gas (PNG) must conform to the Indian Standard 17153:2019 and display the Standard Mark. The Bureau of Indian Standards will grant this mark under Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations in 2018
