Project Description

Indigenous development of the ELTA Jammer System’s repair or refurbishment capability is critical to maintaining its operational effectiveness in modern fighter aircraft. This includes either repairing the existing PCBs or upgrading the system with advanced airborne electronics in a compact 3U form factor.

The refurbished system must meet stringent environmental and performance standards, with a Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of 400 hours. Compatibility with aircraft avionics and mission computers, through replicated Interface Control Documents (ICDs), is essential.

A Technology Development Evaluation (TDE) committee will assess the feasibility of repair or refurbishment for continued operational readiness.

Functional and Operational Requirements

A robust, indigenously developed solution for the repair or refurbishment of the ELTA Jammer System will ensure continued operational readiness and sustainability. By developing local expertise, this solution can address repair needs quickly and efficiently, reducing system downtime and enhancing long-term performance.

Enhanced maintainability and reliability will improve the system’s support for aircraft electronic warfare (EW) capabilities. Regular repairs or upgrades will ensure optimal functionality and reduce the frequency of failures, contributing to improved mission success.

Cost savings will be realized by reducing reliance on foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), minimizing import costs, and streamlining the repair process.

Strengthening defense indigenization efforts fosters self-reliance, boosts local technological capabilities, and supports national security objectives.

Testing and Certification Requirements

The ELTA Jammer System repair/refurbishment must meet stringent testing and certification standards, including environmental testing, reliability (MTBF of 400 hours), shock and vibration resistance, and compatibility with aircraft avionics. It must be certified by defense approval bodies such as CEMILAC, DGCA, or other Air Force-approved bodies.
