FEASIBILITY 1

Electromagnetic Resilience and Electronic Hardening

Objective
To design and develop an indigenous Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) rocket warhead capable of disabling or neutralizing enemy electronic systems, communication networks, and sensors through high-intensity electromagnetic radiation, without causing physical destruction or loss of life.

Background
Modern military systems are increasingly dependent on electronics for command, control, communication, navigation, and weapon guidance. EMP rocket warheads offer a non-kinetic method to neutralize these systems, making them a strategic asset for electronic warfare. An indigenous EMP rocket warhead would strengthen India’s deterrence and tactical superiority in modern, tech-driven battlefields.

Problem Statement
India currently lacks an operational EMP rocket warhead system designed for targeted disruption of enemy electronics. The absence of such capability restricts strategic options in scenarios where physical destruction is not viable or desirable. Imported EMP rocket systems are unavailable due to international restrictions, necessitating indigenous development.

Proposed Solution

a. Pulse Generation System: Develop a compact, high-power microwave (HPM) or explosively driven flux compression generator (FCG) capable of producing a directed EMP rocket system.

b. Warhead Casing: Design a hardened and aerodynamic warhead body to house the EMP generator, optimized for delivery via rocke system.

c. Trigger & Power Conditioning: Incorporate fast-acting pulse power systems to shape and control the EMP Rocket system.

d. Effect Simulation & Shielding Tests: Conduct simulations and physical tests to quantify disruption effects on various target electronic systems.

Expected Outcome
a. Indigenous development of a non-lethal, high-impact warhead for neutralizing adversary electronic assets.
b. Operational capability to conduct precision electronic attacks on enemy infrastructure and military systems.
c. Enhanced options for strategic and tactical dominance in electronic warfare scenarios.

Key Deliverable
a. Prototype EMP rocket warhead with validated electromagnetic output.
b. EMP effect testing reports against standard electronics.
c. Integration framework for compatible delivery platforms.
d. Handling, safety, and deployment documentation.

Strategic Relevance
The EMP warhead will serve as a force multiplier in electronic warfare and strategic deterrence. It provides the capability to neutralize enemy systems without physical destruction and supports India’s objective of self-reliance in advanced warfighting technologies under the “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiative.

Future Expectation
Further development may include miniaturized EMP rocket system and integration with cyber-electronic attack systems for combined effects.
